At Guernsey, we're focused on efficiency - reducing customer costs efficiently, delivering product efficiently and efficiently using resources to do so. That efficiency might seem as dry as a dry erase board in the desert, but we like to think that saving and reusing dull items like packaging materials allows us to save exciting things, like energy and baby polar bears. So in 2007 we began our Next Level initiative with one goal in mind…to truly integrate thoughtful sustainability measures into our day-to-day processes.

To that end, we converted our bulk product delivery processes to reusable resin pallet structures, drastically reducing waste from wooden pallets and shrink wrap. We also launched our Boomerang Box program in an effort to reuse boxes that we used to deliver orders. This effort has been enthusiastically supported by many customers, and we've been thrilled with the results. Since the program's inception, we've reused or recycled hundreds of thousands of boxes. We'd be lying if we said we weren't proud of that.

In 2014 we received one of the Fairfax County Environmental Excellence Awards, which recognizes county residents, organizations, businesses and county employees who dedicate time and energy to benefit the environment and support county environmental initiatives. Award recipients are selected based on their:
- Advancement or support of the Board of Supervisors and county's environmental goals and policy statements.
- Dedication of personal time and expertise beyond normal fiscal or civic responsibilities.
- Leadership as a role model for others.

Making Green Easy

Most people are ashamed to admit it, but in the words of a famous frog, "it's not easy being green." There are so many different things that you can do to become more eco-friendly in workplace, it's hard to know where to start.

| Fortunately for you, Guernsey is here to help! We regularly work with our customers to assess their objectives regarding environmentally-responsible purchasing, and will be glad to work with your staff to make sure that the goals of your firm are met through the products you purchase, and the methods by which you purchase them.

Turn-Key Sustainability Programs

Many companies rely heavily on their HR departments to develop and administer complex eco-friendly programs for their employees. With Guernsey, that's taken care of for you. Below are a number of programs that we handle upon request.

Clean Coffee - Looking for eco-friendly coffee? We can do that! With our Flavia TerraCycle program, we place collection boxes in participating customers' breakrooms. Customers and their guests discard their empty drink packs into these boxes which, when full, are closed and returned to TerraCycle for recycling.

Boomerang Boxes - Guernsey sends out thousands of orders in boxes every day, each box having a useful life of 4-5 deliveries. Under this program with each delivery to the customer, we collect the empty boxes from the previous delivery and return them for reuse or recycling to the tune of hundreds of boxes each day! You can always keep your boxes and recycle them yourself, but we are also happy to take them back and reuse or recycle them! Since 2007, we've recycled many thousands of boxes with our Boomerang Box recycling program!

Energize Your Eco-System - Help others get energized by recycling everything from batteries to old cell phones and power tools with our E.Y.E. program! We partner with the Big Green Box Program to make recycling those tough to sort items easy and practical for your workplace!

Fresh Ink - Upon request, we will pick up your empty toners for recycling and reuse, giving them new life and fresh ink!

One of the simplest ways to go green is to source the right product from the right vendor. Not all green product is created equally, but our Account Managers can help you sort through our many lines to find the right solution for your needs - whether you're looking for environmentally-friendly floor cleaners or a carbon-neutral conference room.

Ordering online alone can cut down on your environmental impact immensely, but we don't stop there. We can customize your ordering experience to highlight environmentally-friendly products for all of your product searches. This is also something that we will consider in your business reviews as new products become available.
